After BTech, MBBS goes local, Madhya Pradesh eyes regional language medical education

Madhya Pradesh government will now offer medical courses in Hindi. The program is currently being prepared in Hindi. The state government formed a high-level committee and held a meeting. The state’s education minister, Vishwas Sarang, said the government is also working to ensure that medical education is conducted in Hindi.

It comes after the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) allowed 20 of its engineering colleges to teach Btech courses in languages ​​other than English. Content for the same is being prepared. He also asked colleges to organize compulsory English communication classes for students studying in local languages. The implementation of regional languages, which also includes Marathi, Bengali, Tamil and Telugu apart from Hindi, is being done in a phased manner and other languages ​​will follow, the council said.

Sarang had earlier on Hindi Day said that MP would be offering the opportunity to study medicine in Hindi ‘in the near future’ and that a committee would be formed to ensure that medical training courses (material) be prepared in Hindi. “In the near future, we will also start medical studies in Hindi,” he said on Hindi Diwas.

The minister had also announced that lectures on RSS founder KB Hedgewar, Jana Sangh leader Deendayal Upadhyaya, Swami Vivekananda and BR Ambedkar would be included in the basic first year course of MBBS in MP medical colleges. The decision was made to instill social and medical ethics in students, he said.

The ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh has also planned to include Ramayana, Mahabharata and courses on Ramsetu, the mythological bridge that Lord Ram used to reach Lanka, in state engineering courses.
