Assistant Director – Institute for Medical Education (IME) job with Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai


The Institute for Medical Education (IME) at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a talented individual with a passion for health professions education research. Reporting to the Director of IME and working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and learners, the Deputy Director is responsible for advancing all aspects of IME’s mission with a particular focus on scholarship in medical education . This includes developing faculty and learner skills related to educational research methods through faculty development programs, mentoring academics in medical education research, collaboratively creating a fellowship program. studies within the IME and the creation and follow-up of the evaluation program for the IME.

The position is a full-time position and the candidate is eligible for a misnomer at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.


  • Create, conduct, and evaluate faculty development programs related to scholarships and the dissemination of medical education
  • Consult with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders related to education research and scholarship projects
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to design, implement, and improve educational research methodology, data collection and analysis, program evaluation, and outcome evaluation
  • Collaborate with the Director and Manager to create a scholarship program within IME
  • Apply for funding (intramural and extramural) for medical education research
  • Provide and oversee programs that enable faculty to share and receive feedback on their education research and scholarship activities
  • Serving on all review committees related to IME sponsored activities
  • Post and showcase scholarships in peer-reviewed forums
  • Conduct and assist with statistical analyses, abstract and manuscript writing, data collection instruments and IRB submission documents
  • Collaborate with the Director and Manager in the planning and scheduling of all IME activities


  • PhD or MD with a focus on health professions education, educational research, or educational science
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in medical education
  • Demonstrated ability to publish in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals in the field of medical education research
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with people at different levels of experience, including faculty, staff and learners
  • Ability to research, translate and communicate educational theory and research to healthcare professionals in the classroom and clinical workplace
  • Demonstrated training and experience in research design, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and program evaluation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • In-depth knowledge of statistical analysis and data visualization software
