Disclosures: Shadan reports being a board member of AdvaMed and CBRx.
CHICAGO – In this video from the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Martha Shadan, Chairman of AdvaMed’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, discussed the importance of diversity in the medical technology industry.
“Our mission is to make [medical technology] industry of choice for various candidates,” she said. “What we found is that there seems to be parity at entry level positions, but as the scope of work increases and [profit and loss] responsibility is within the scope of the position, the number of women in these roles is lower than that of men. In fact, it’s like an 80% to 20% split,” Shadan added.
