MUST organizes a symposium on medical education


A conference held at the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) on Saturday focused on the importance of innovation and research in medical education amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Innovations in Medical Education & Research symposium brought together experts from Macau and the Greater Bay Area alongside guests from Portuguese-speaking countries.

The event was held to celebrate the 22 MUSTn/a anniversary and the first cohort of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) graduates.

The list of guest speakers for the conference included Manson Fok, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of MUST, Ming Kuang, Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University (Zhongshan), Michael Parker, Associate Dean for the e-learning at Harvard Medical School, and Zhang Shuyang, president of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, the entity that will operate the future Macau Islands Healthcare Complex.

Dr. Parker praised the first medical school in Macau to deploy the innovative HMX online teaching system, noting that medical students learn the latest educational information in genetics, biochemistry, physiology and other science subjects. medical.

Dean Manson Fok also said that the MUST medical school will launch a brand new medical journal to publish the latest research articles, named “MedComm”.
